Head of Design – Portsmouth area – circa £80,000

An exciting opportunity for a Head of Design has arisen for a specialist manufacturer based on the outskirts of Portsmouth. You will lead a skilled design team with the help of two team leaders overseeing fifteen talented design engineers. The job role and responsibilities:

As Head of Design you will have the following duties within your role:

• Manage the design and development and launch of new products
• Mentor, coach and train your design engineers
• Develop initial design concepts and develop timings as well as product performance
• Liaise regularly with patent attorneys to protect intellectual property
• Make quality and performance improvements to products

The requirements:

To be suitable for the role of Head of Design you will ideally have the following experience and skillset:

• Degree qualified or similar within mechanical engineering or similar
• You will have experience leading from the front and managing a team of engineers
• Experience with 3D CAD design
• Proven technical engineering knowledge as well as some knowledge of electro-mechanical products
• You will have a successful track record of designing and bringing new products to market.
